What is stringing?
Stringing is of fundamental importance for the tennis player, just as important as the frame, if not more so. In fact, the racket represents the union of two elements: frame and string.

Recalling engines, strings are as important as tires are to cars. A powerful and perfect engine, cutting-edge electronics, excellent aerodynamics of the body, etc., ultimately it's the tires that make contact with the asphalt. So if the choice is wrong, not only would the driver not be able to fully exploit the characteristics of the car, but he would also be unable to express his potential.

Observing the behavior of players on the ATP Tour further underscores the importance of stringing: they always check that the tension doesn't change, even by just a few ounces. And they vary the tension and type of string depending on the surface they play on—even though this isn't common practice among all professionals. Pete Sampras, for example, would bring his own personal stringer to tournaments and ask him to restring all his racquets if the humidity level before taking the court was different than expected. Ivan Lendl changed racquets at every court change to play with more or less the same string tension.

Given the wide selection available on the market, choosing strings isn't exactly straightforward or simple. In addition to considering factors similar to those for choosing a frame, there are also other aspects, including those related to enhancing the performance of the racket and potentially impacting your wallet (especially if you're not a professional player).

The types of strings available on the market are: natural gut, synthetic, and hybrid (a mix of the first two). These are the main categories. Synthetic strings are available in various construction techniques: monofilament, wound, and multifilament.

Synthetic strings cost less than gut strings, as the latter require a longer and more expensive manufacturing process.

You need to find the right type of string for your playing style. Power, control, and spin are all affected by the use of one string or another, as well as the type of frame on which it will be mounted. However, each type of string has more than one characteristic, but manufacturers generally tend to emphasize one of these properties: either power, control, or durability.
